  1. Version 0.1.1514 September 2026

Quick Look for more file kinds

Library cards now preview the file you saved, not just a cover.

    What's included:

    • Quick Look and hover peek for code, text, CSV, JSON, HTML, Office, camera RAW, social posts, products, YouTube links, bookmarks, files, and notes.
    • Notes open the markdown itself (frontmatter stripped), not a screenshot.
    • If a site refuses the page request, Recall can still save the URL as a link.
    • Desktop shows a banner when a new build is ready.

  2. Version 0.1.1413 September 2026

Add to Recall, card edit, and Quick Look

Add to Recall remembers your last tab, destination and intent.

    What's included:

    • Paste from clipboard for links, text and images.
    • Queue several entries with Add another and save them together.
    • Edit blueprint fields directly on library cards by hovering a field.
    • New Quick Look preview on cards (magnifier or Space), with a course outline and resources view for courses.
    • Dropdown and tag labels now show on cards and list rows.

  3. Version 0.1.1312 September 2026

    Semantic search on every machine

Semantic search now works on every machine. Earlier builds could only find the search extension on the computer that built them, so related-item search was quietly off for testers.

    What's included:

    • This build ships the extension inside the app and the build fails if it is missing.
    • The database library was updated to a version that runs cleanly on current Node, which also fixed the app's automated test run.
    • YouTube transcript downloads now check the video address is really a YouTube page before running the downloader.

  4. Version 0.1.1212 September 2026

Safer fetches and a locked update feed

This build stops other websites from calling the copy of Recall running on your machine.

    What's included:

    • When Recall fetches a page or image you saved, it no longer follows redirects to your computer or to cloud metadata addresses.
    • Reader view and Word previews strip more script tricks from the HTML.
    • If the app has to show a recovery screen, API keys and tokens are removed from that text first.
    • The website updater will only hand out the installer version that is in the published feed.

  5. Version 0.1.119 September 2026

Stricter fetches and a cleaner quit

Recall is pickier about where it fetches, what HTML a saved article can show, and what happens when you quit the app.

    What's included:

    • Cover and article fetches no longer follow links to this PC or cloud metadata hosts. Your NAS on the local network still works.
    • Saved-article Reader keeps headings, lists, links, and images. Tables and figure chrome are dropped. Word, Excel, and PowerPoint preview is unchanged.
    • Closing Recall.exe now closes the Next process it started. A leftover node.exe from a crash is still cleared the next time you launch.
    • On WSL or when keys cannot be sealed, Settings says they are stored as plain text.
    • Unexpected admin errors stay in the log. The screen no longer repeats the exception text.

  6. Version 0.1.107 September 2026

    Open Original and library covers

Open Original leaves Recall. Sites that refuse a live preview say so. Library covers no longer paint black boxes.

    What's included:

    • Open Original and the source URL in System Metadata open your browser. The same for social posts, products, and settings help links.
    • If Recall cannot open the browser, it copies the link and offers Try again.
    • Sites that block live preview (Framer and others) show a Recall card instead of a refused-to-load error. You can still open the original or try the preview anyway.
    • Uncategorized no longer takes the first slot on the dashboard library strip. It stays on the stats tile and in the sidebar.
    • Gallery and Grid views can override card cover layout (default, 80/20, or full cover) or reset to the blueprint.
    • Library hero chrome no longer draws black rectangles on the cover. Title wash and blur are gone.

  7. Version 0.1.96 September 2026

    Workbench rails and sealed keys

Workbench rails remember what you open. Library covers keep chrome readable. Keys stay sealed on Windows.

    What's included:

    • Queue, Color Palette, and Blueprint Controls open when you click them and stay that way. Notes still opens first on a new item.
    • Uncategorized is a real library at the top of Libraries. Remove library lives in the footer. Sidecars stay unless you check the box.
    • Open Settings from an empty library lands on Libraries. Queue play controls show only for video and audio. Other types use Open.
    • Library title, tabs, and view buttons go dark on a pale cover and light on a dark cover.
    • On Windows, API keys in the database are sealed with DPAPI. The crash-recovery settings file writes present, not the key.

  8. Version 0.1.81 September 2026

    Sidecar recovery and file paste

Recall starts again after a leftover Next process. Browser images drop and paste into Recall. New libraries open as mosaic.

    What's included:

    • If Recall could not load because port 13000 was already in use, Try again now frees that port and restarts. The recovery page shows the last error.
    • Copy logs and Open logs folder work even when the app UI is down. Secrets are stripped from the copy.
    • Dragging an image from a browser copies it immediately, so Recall no longer says those files are no longer on disk.
    • Layout editor and Block Composer image fields accept the same drop, plus paste from the clipboard.
    • New libraries open in mosaic and keep that view when you leave and come back.
    • The online-metadata banner stays hidden when the blueprint provider is None.
    • The active tab title follows the screen you are on. Search hint is Ctrl K on Windows.
    • Library header gear opens that library's settings. Create New Library copy says library, not vault.
    • If a folder path does not exist, Recall asks whether to create it.

  9. Version 0.1.731 August 2026

    Word, Excel, and PowerPoint readers

Word, Excel, and PowerPoint open as readers. Edits stay in the desktop app.

    What's included:

    • Drop a .docx, .xlsx, or .pptx via Add to Recall. It opens the document page, not File Identity.
    • Word shows a reading copy. Excel shows sheet tabs and a table. PowerPoint shows a slide strip you can flip.
    • Search can find text from those files after Recall reads them.
    • Open in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint launches the app on this PC. Recall does not edit or save the file.
    • Older .doc, .xls, and .ppt files ingest, then open in the desktop app only. Macros are never run.
Screenshot placeholder for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint readers. A product still will replace this later.
  10. Version 0.1.631 August 2026

    File drop and social playback

Drop files into Add to Recall. Facebook videos play after download. Open a social clip as a real video.

    What's included:

    • Add to Recall → File is a two-pane drop. Hover the dialog, pick Uncategorized or a library, then drop. Recall copies or moves the files into that folder.
    • Choose files opens the OS picker in the desktop app. After a drop, the toast can open Uncategorized or the library you picked.
    • Dragging from Explorer onto an open library uses the same two-pane overlay. You can land in that library or send the files to Uncategorized.
    • A Facebook Watch clip with a downloaded MP4 plays in the card instead of Preview Unavailable.
    • On a social post with one local file, Edit layout offers Open as video or Open as image.

  11. Version 0.1.529 August 2026

    Bundled ffmpeg and yt-dlp

Voice transcribe finds bundled ffmpeg. YouTube downloads use the newest yt-dlp.

    What's included:

    • Asset Transcribe no longer looks for ffmpeg on PATH. Recall uses the ffmpeg already inside the install.
    • Download Media prefers the newest working yt-dlp, including the one shipped with the installer. A July copy in AppData no longer wins.
    • If YouTube returns HTTP 403 on the video file, Recall retries once after clearing yt-dlp cache, then with an android player client.

  12. Version 0.1.429 August 2026

Live AI models and desktop chrome

Live AI model list. Title bar lines up with the sidebar. Windows Snap on maximize.

    What's included:

    • Settings → AI pulls live models from each provider. If Google retired a model Recall used to ship (Gemini 2.0 Flash), Recall switches that default to Gemini 2.5 Flash and shows a banner. A model you picked yourself stays.
    • Desktop tabs start at the sidebar edge. Empty space after the last tab drags the window. Click a library or sidebar link to reuse the current tab. Ctrl-click or middle-click opens a new tab.
    • Hover the maximize button for Windows 11 Snap layouts. Hover an inactive tab to close it.

  13. Version 0.1.329 August 2026

Onboarding, Notes, and a first library

Onboarding creates Notes and a first library. Desktop tabs. Window fits 720p.

    What's included:

    • First-run setup always creates Native Notes (with a short intro note) plus a file library, or your chosen templates on top of Notes.
    • Watch folders are a real list on Standard and Custom. Recall scans and watches every folder you keep. Settings → General edits the same list.
    • YouTube is a first-class setup card. Unsplash cover search uses the Recall proxy; there is no Unsplash key field to fill in.
    • Desktop tabs stay in the title bar. The window clamps so it still fits a 720p display.

  14. Version 0.1.228 August 2026

    Uncategorized covers and Quick Look

Uncategorized shows the file. Settings Changelog opens this page.

    What's included:

    • Uncategorized list and grid show a real cover when one exists. Images stream from disk. PDFs and code use the same generate-cover job as libraries.
    • Folders use a folder icon, not a document page.
    • STALE means the row has sat in Uncategorized for your wait window (default 7 days). Hover the badge for that sentence.
    • Space opens a Quick Look overlay on the selected item. Esc, Space again, or click outside closes it. Enter still opens Review.
    • Hover a grid card for a magnifier chip. Hover the chip for a peek. A size slider sets how many columns fit.
    • About Recall → Changelog opens this page in the browser.

  15. Version 0.1.127 August 2026

    First generic in-app update

First generic in-app update for testers who installed the 0.1.0 per-seat builds.

    What's included:

    • On first-run Pick a look, Regular, Bold, and Duotone redraw a 15×5 grid of the icons you will see in libraries.
    • Drag files from Explorer onto an open library. Files already in that folder index immediately; other files ask whether to move them in or watch the source folder. A dropped folder can become a Group, kept off All items unless you check otherwise.
    • If a view or the desktop sidecar dies, the title bar stays. You get Try again, Dashboard, or Retry sidecar instead of a blank window.
    • Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese, and Russian now cover the library wizard, filters, Morning Brief, code and image workbenches, and recovery screens. Some settings still fall back to English.
    • Settings → Updates downloads and installs this build on every seat. This is the first generic package on that feed.
    • If you dismissed a file from Uncategorized and later put it in a library folder, a scan or the watcher adopts that row instead of creating a duplicate.

  16. Version 0.1.0

    Closed-beta migration

Closed-beta per-seat migration. First Settings → Updates feed, so later generic builds can install without a new zip per person.
